Tale of Kieu is a title sequence for second arc in a re-telling movie series of Truyen Kieu, a classic literature work in Vietnamese by Vietnamese poet Nguyen Du. The title sequence uses metaphor and symbolism to introduce themes of morality,  and the woman social standing in a old patriarchal society while eluding to the main character's crooked fate...

Moodboard
Conceptualizing the movie and the title sequence.
Design Strategy
The title sequence will be illustration heavy, with soft and poetic feels. The title sequence will feature a few metaphorical imageries (i.e. lotus, bamboos). In Eastern literature, the image of the lotus flower represent the female figure with its beauty and nature. Meanwhile, bamboos are another icon of endurance and strength in the Eastern culture. These are utilize to represent Kieu's beauty and cruel fate in a harsh patriarchal society.
Storyboarding
Conceptualize the promotional video in an impactful and meaningful flow. As this is the second movie in the series, the title sequence is to inform the viewer of what happened in the previous movie as a quick recap. The title sequence should present the irony of a sad yet poetic movie.
